Why Princess Kate isn’t wearing her wedding ring

Over the weekend, Princess Catherine and Prince William delighted fans by participating in a video wishing Team GB luck in the Olympics. While most viewers were enthralled with the Prince of Wales’ beard, keen-eyed viewers picked up on another unexpected detail.

The Princess of Wales showed off a new  ring in the brief video, leaving viewers to question why the royal has stopped wearing her wedding ring.

Dazhi Liu, a pharmacist, discusses possible motivations for Princess Catherine’s choice.

Where is Princess Catherine’s wedding ring?

According to Dazhi, a medical contributor for Drugwatch, “there are several practical reasons why someone might need to take off their rings during cancer treatment.” “Chemotherapy can cause fluid retention in the hands, which might make rings tight and difficult.”

But the Princess of Wales may be having problems with more than just fluid retention. “Metal rings could interfere with the radiation therapy and cause issues such as burns on the skin around the ring,” Dazhi keeps going.

Dazhi continues, “Wearing rings may exacerbate these conditions.” Cancer treatments can also make the skin more sensitive to irritation.

Lastly, Dazhi clarifies that taking off her jewelry may shield the royal from infection: “Removing rings can help prevent skin infections, since patients are at high risk of getting infections during chemotherapy.” In general, removing rings while receiving cancer treatment can help prevent these possible issues.”

Princess Catherine’s new ring

Princess Catherine most likely removed her wedding ring because it was getting tighter, since Prince William’s wife is still sporting her other ring and her sapphire engagement ring.

Her wedding band has been replaced by a band made of diamonds spaced out by a dark stone that looks to be a garnet or ruby.

A ruby ring can increase vitality, intuition, and spiritual wisdom. Rubys are a stone of passion, love, courage, and good fortune.

The ring might also have sentimental significance because birthstones are frequently marked with colored gems; Princess Catherine’s birthstone is garnet, just like the stones in her ring.

Although the second band is new to us, jeweler Steven Stone’s Maxwell Stone revealed that the royal has owned it for a long time.

William gave Catherine a promise ring when they were in college, and while it’s difficult to tell for sure, new footage of the royal couple makes it seem likely that she will be wearing the sentimental item once more. The ring is set on a Victorian-style rose gold band and has two garnets, which are Catherine’s birthstone, and pearls, which stand in for William’s June birthstone.
